Utah County Coming Soon
Utah continues to evolve with major developments, new recreation destinations, expanding travel infrastructure, and fresh dining spots. From transformative mixed-use communities like The Point and Utah City to exciting attractions, state park expansions, and large-scale transportation projects, there’s no shortage of momentum. Whether you’re interested in business growth, family-friendly entertainment, improved commuting, or upcoming community events, here are a few updates from across the state.
DEVELOPMENT
The Point (Draper Development)
The Point is a large mixed-use redevelopment in Draper, Utah, located on approximately 600 acres of land that previously housed the Utah State Prison. The project is planned to include “world class” retail, shopping, entertainment venues, and also a place for The Point Innovation District efforts. It is designed with walkability in mind and will connect to regional trail systems, including the River to Range trail. The development is being built in phases and is expected to bring new jobs, residential options, and infrastructure to the south Salt Lake Valley over the coming years.
Utah City is a large master-planned development underway in Vineyard, Utah, on more than 700 acres along the eastern shore of Utah Lake. The project is designed as a mixed-use, walkable community that will include housing, office space, retail, restaurants, parks, and public gathering areas. It is located next to the Vineyard FrontRunner station, with plans that emphasize transit access, pedestrian-friendly streets, and connections to the lakefront. One of the first major retail additions is Bella’s Market, a full-service grocery store planned to serve residents and surrounding neighborhoods. Development is occurring in phases similarly to The Point in Draper.
RECREATION./ENTERTAINMENT
Provo’s Epic Sports Park is designed to be Utah’s premier sports and recreation destination for competitive play and family fun. The park development will span 100 acres and feature 21 multi-purpose sports fields as well as pickleball courts, two playgrounds and wide walking paths. So far, fifteen fields are finished and can be reserved for football, soccer, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, and more! The playgrounds and walking paths are also open to the public, but the pickleball courts and six new fields are still under construction and will be opening at a future date.
Epic Sports Park is located at 1200 Epic Lane Provo, UT 84601
Utah’s first state history museum, the Museum of Utah, will have its grand opening celebration on June 27, 2026. The museum is housed inside the new North Capitol Building and will feature notable Utah memorabilia, including items found at the Topaz Interment Camp (a WWII concentration camp located near Delta, Utah), the telescope used to survey the Salt Lake Valley, and the iconic Marty McFly costume. Perhaps the most coveted artifact returning to Utah is the Mormon Meteor III, the car that inspired racing on the well-known Salt Flats.
Salt Lake Bees Alternate Identity
The Salt Lake Bees recently revealed their new alternate identity, the Utah Dirty Sodas. Each Wednesday home game of the 2026 season the Bees will don new cream and red jerseys and Swig, the official sponsor of the Dirty Sodas, will be offering their drinks at the ball park for $3. Ticket holders can also score a free Swig product when the Bees score more than four runs during a game. The first Wednesday home game of the season is April 1, and tickets can be purchased at https://www.utahdirtysodas.com/
Last season the Bees moved to a new stadium in South Jordan called The Ballpark at America First Square.
Lagoon is opening this season on March 28 and will be debuting a new ride named “The Nutcracker.” The ride features two massive gondolas that swing riders up to 150 feet in the air at speeds of 68 miles per hour. The Nutcracker boasts 4.7 vertical G-forces making it similar to the intensity of The Cannibal ride.
State Parks
The Utahraptor state park officially opened May 2025 and is located just 15 miles Northwest of Moab. The park has one of the largest dinosaur bone beds in North America. More than 5,500 bones from ten dinosaur species have been discovered there, and paleontologists believe there are many more to be discovered. The park also has hiking, off-roading and dirt biking trails for visitors.
This year, the Utah legislature is considering adding Mantua Reservoir as a new state park. If approved, the reservoir will receive funding for improved boating, fishing, and other recreational activities.
TRAVEL
At this point, Buc-ee’s famous gas station coming to Utah is old news, but it has been officially confirmed that it is no longer fake news. Construction hasn’t started yet, so the grand opening will likely be in 2027 instead of this year. The rest stop will have 120 gas pumps and will employ over 200+ people. The approved spot is just off of exit 261 in Springville.
Construction for the 2100 North Freeway Project is scheduled to start spring 2026. The project will improve transportation in Lehi by creating a stronger east–west connection from I-15 to the Mountain View Corridor. This 2.8-mile freeway segment between Redwood Road and I-15 is intended to ease congestion and improve overall traffic flow. The project also features a new system-to-system interchange at I-15, around 20 roadway structures, and three shared-use paths to better serve pedestrians and cyclists.
